As a Lead Pest Control Technician in our General Management Training Program, you’ll gain hands-on experience that goes beyond just technical expertise. In addition to initial responsibilities of servicing properties as a technician, you’ll play a key role in leading a team as grow, building out our quality control program, and driving customer satisfaction and referrals-all while developing the leadership skills necessary to take your career to the next level. With a strong focus on growth and advancement, we’re not just offering a job; we’re providing a clear pathway to management positions where you’ll have the opportunity to shape the future of Mosquito Joe of Charlottesville & Central Virginia as grow. You’ll also receive ongoing training and support to set you up for success in both the pest control industry and your career journey.

You will enjoy competitive pay, benefits, and the satisfaction of making a direct impact on the success of the business while building valuable skills in management, sales, and customer service. In addition, as our Lead Pest Control Technician in our General Management Training Program, you'll be joining a close-knit, supportive team that values hard work and dedication-where your contributions are recognized and rewarded. If you’re looking for a career with opportunities for advancement and the chance to make a real difference in both our community and your career, this is the role for you. Ready to lead and grow? We’re excited to work together to get you there!

Requirements

  • You need to be at least 18 years old but do not need to have any pest control experience as our philosophy is to prioritize skills and capabilities over work experience. (In other words, we’re looking for our organization’s Jayden Daniels.)

  • You must be able to lift and carry a backpack, which weighs 65 lbs. (This will be your strength training workout.)

  • You must wear protective gear and a uniform and are accountable for keeping that uniform and anything you touch like your work van in immaculate condition. (You will be protecting yourself while making you and the company look good.)

  • You must be able to work safely and productively in the summer heat and humidity. (Think of it as being paid to go to the sauna.)

  • You must be able to fluently speak the English language as this role will require a high amount of communication with our team and customers. (We do however think highly of any candidate who can speak multiple languages.)

  • You must not have moral qualms about being a pest assassin. (Of course, we train you to do this ethically and with great responsibility to protect our friends the honeybees at all costs!)

  • And finally, you will need a clean driving record and be an upstanding citizen. (This one is serious - We have a duty to keep our local community and our team members safe.)

Responsibilities

  • Always bring your A-game. Remember, you are always on a public stage. You might think no one is home or watching, but you might impress someone with your pest control professionalism!

  • Take the training seriously. You will learn the proper guidelines for using the products, and we will even sponsor you to get licensed and pay for additional education.

  • Stay on schedule. We will give you the schedule and timing for the day (sometimes this could be up to 15 appointments in peak season).

  • Do it right the first time. You do not want the customer to call you back out to do it over.

  • Leave the whining at home. Some days the work will be hard. It will be hot. You will not want to work. Then your work ethic will kick in, and you will show up with a smile.

  • Think observantly and creatively when assessing each unique property. Every property is different, with different problems to solve.

Benefits

  • The pay range for this position is $23 to $26 an hour and includes an incentive program for field hours you complete.

  • No nights, rare weekends, and we do not work on holidays (Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, and Labor Day) - Work hard during the week so that you can recharge nights, weekends, and holidays with your friends and family.

  • Paid Training & Development - As you come on board, we will sponsor your state required training and pay you to prepare for it. As you grow with the org, we’ll cover the costs for additional training and education that aligns with your Grow-A-Joe Personal Development Plan which we create with you during your onboarding.

  • Great Perks - After completing a probationary period, you may be eligible to take a work vehicle home while also earning incentives and recognition.

  • Fun Work Environment - We are committed to making outside fun again, but we’re not micromanagers. If you like autonomy, can receive developmental feedback, and are self-driven to advance your career with us, this is the place for you.
